A friend sent me these pictures today of signs posted in Africa. I don't know exactly where someone could find these signs, but some of them are pretty funny. I thought I'd share them.

Should the birds stay and hope for the best? Or should they use their last energy to carry on flying west to Arizona?

Adventures of Abygail

In the summertime, people from Phoenix love to get away from the heat and drive north. While the temperature in Phoenix is 110 degrees or hotter, it may only be 90 degrees in Payson or Flagstaff. 

Abby is learning at a very young age (2 months old) to retreat north to cool herself off. This past weekend Abygail went on her very first camping trip. Here's an update on Abby roughing it!

Abby spent most of her time up north making sure her parental units behaved themselves so she doesn't have to worry about sharing her room with another baby just yet. Abby did an amazing job keeping everyone safe and warm.

Guy Stuff

Every now and then I decide to go off script and blog about something other than children, grandchildren and books. When I found these pictures on Pinterest, I knew had to share them.

How would you like to have your staff meetings in this conference room? If you've been in some of the meetings I've been in, probably not!

This one reminds me of the cement pond the Beverly Hillbillies used on their show. Now, all we need is Ellie May.

There is nothing cozier than a four-poster, propane tank bed made from the grill of a GMC Truck. Awesome!

Aubree Update

It has been two weeks since the birth of our newest granddaughter, Aubree. I just wanted to update our Blog with a couple new pictures.

  

Aubree is the very definition of pretty in pink. She goes back to the Doctor this Friday but on her last checkup, she was back to her birth weight of 6 pounds, 14 ounces and is 19 1/2" long. More news this weekend.

New Book Update 

Cathy and I just finished writing our fourth book, Robby's Quest: Thrills and Chills. This book is dedicated to both Aubree and Abygail. The manuscript is at the editor for proof-reading and editing, then off to the illustrator. This book offers many opportunities for some very beautiful and unusual illustrations. 

In this story, our birds travel north along the coastal highway of California, all the way to San Francisco. During their travels, the birds must overcome several very dangerous obstacles, however they also receive some help along the way from their new friends, Rhonda the Red Fox, Simon the Seagull, Ellie the Eagle and Ollie the Owl. This book is full of thrills and chills, our young readers are sure to enjoy.

Robby's Animal Safety Reminder

Can you imagine how hot the inside of your car can get when it's 118 degrees outside, like recent temperatures in parts of Arizona and Nevada? According to PETA.org, on a 90-degree day, the interior temperature of a car can reach as high as 160 degrees in less than 10 minutes. 

 Animals can suffer brain damage and possibly die from heatstroke in only 15 minutes. This is especially true for dogs, because they can only cool themselves by panting and by sweating through their paw pads. If you see an animal left alone in a hot car, take down the car's make, model and license plate number. Call local humane authorities or police. DO NOT leave the scene until the animal has been rescued.

Watch for heatstroke symptoms including restlessness, excessive thirst, thick saliva, heavy panting, lethargy, lack of appetite, dark tongue, rapid heartbeat, fever, vomiting, bloody diarrhea, and lack of coordination. 

One last reminder, be very careful when walking your dog on the pavement or sidewalk. If it's too hot for you to walk barefoot, it's too hot for your dog as well.

Two New Grand Daughters

It's not very often both of your daughters give birth to their own daughters, each within six weeks of each other, however, that's exactly what just happened.

Although baby Aubree lives in Minnesota and baby Abygail lives in Arizona, they are cousins and pretty much the same age. Hopefully they will see a lot of each other growing up. We will post additional pictures, from time to time. 

We dedicated our first book to Riley, pictured top left, with his new baby sister.

We are dedicating our new book, Robby's Quest: Thrills and Chills, to both Abygail and Aubree. We hope to publish the fourth book by September of 2013.

Robby's Weekend Update

The weekend is flying by. Let's see, what did we accomplish so far.

1. Our free eBook download at Amazon, Robby's Quest for Seed, went very well. Nearly five-hundred books were download Friday and Saturday. 

2. We added new illustrations to our second book, Robby's Quest: Ocean Bound. We re-formatted the books then uploaded them to Amazon and Createspace. Both versions with the new illustrations are now available.

3. We received two of the three sales links for the new Audio Book version of Robby's Quest for Seed. Currently the Audio Book is available at Amazon.com and Audible.com. Robby's Quest children's stories are especially fun and entertaining for younger children. We sought a person with a special voice to connect with children and help bring our books to life and we found Tracy Elman, voice-over expert from Los Angeles.  Tracy reads our stories with enthusiasm, bringing smiles to both children and adults. Children will adore Tracy's style as she changes characters effortlessly, from sentence to sentence.

Tracy is currently working on the audio version of Robby's Quest: Ocean Bound then on to Return of the cat. I'm sure all three books will make fascinating and entertaining reads for children.

7. Sent all three eBooks out for reviews. It's important to find many credible reviews to help build customer confidence. We have fifteen reviews for the first book and only a handfull for the other two. We need more book reviews. Anyone interested?

Abby Two Weeks Old Update

Abygail's Doctor visit, two weeks old, everything is progressing nicely and Abby is back to her birth weight.

I have to say, Abygail is a sweetheart. She is a good baby and is very strong for such a tiny girl. Her daddy thinks Abby will be crawling soon next week :). That's not really possible but you can't tell that to a new father.

Kind of reminds me how fragile we all are. Such a tiny baby and a joy to hold.

Abygail may not be crawling next week but I'm still thinking Gerber Baby!

Our youngest daughter will be delivering a baby girl very soon, withing a month. I think it's wonderful that both Abby and her new cousin will be growing up together. I hope they can see each other often, but that might be difficult.

It looks like the new blog looks better than the last one. I have to say, I still don't understand the difference between a widget and a gadget. It's all so confusing to me. Is there an easy to understand book on how to build a blog and more importantly, a blog following? Out of all the blogs we have written, we have had over two viewers only one time. Obviously, we have no clue how to get the word out.

We plan to blog about many things like our grandchildren, children, pets, vacations, health and our books. So let's begin by introducing everyone to our books, then we can move on to other things.

Robby's Quest: Ocean Bound

To escape the hot Arizona summer, Robby the Robin and his band of friends - his brother Ricky, the Sparrow family, a trio of Mourning Doves and Benny the ever dependable Blackbird - fly west to San Diego in search of a cool summer breeze and some seaside fun. Upon arriving in San Diego, Joy and her new friend Josie wander off to investigate a cruise ship and end up on a voyage they will never forget. 

Will Joy and Josie get back to San Diego and their loved ones? Will an encounter with a killer whale be one adventure too many for these lovely little Sparrows? Are their friends and family brave enough to attempt a daring rescue mission? 

These plucky birds once again demonstrate the strength of their love and loyalty to each other in this tale about teamwork and trust.

Robby's Quest: Return of the Cat

Joy the Sparrow and her new best friend Josie want to see the world and why not start in Las Vegas, where the birds can visit Caesars Palace, the Eiffel Tower and New York City, all in the same day. They persuade the flock of birds they live with to take a vacation there. So the loyal group of friends - Sparrows, Robins and a Blackbird - fly there to have some fun. 

However, Hershey the Cat, whom they’ve bumped into before, is back in the picture and would love nothing more than ruining the birds’ vacation. He’s determined to have at least one of the birds for a morning snack. Can the birds keep out of his clutches and claws? Will they get to their destination safely? 

The courageous birds are pushed to their limits and Hershey also has to face some tough truths about himself. 

This is a bright and inspiring story about facing challenges and being the best you can.

All our storybooks are all between 5,000 and 6,500 words and take between 30 and 45 minutes to read. Each book contains several colorful illustrations like the ones on the side bar.

We believe children in the 2nd and 3rd grades will enjoy reading these books and they will also make a great bedtime story for the younger children. We are currently writing the fourth book and have plans for a fifth and final book to wrap up this series.
